Football Weekends break: Barcelona, January 2020!
Join us on the third Football Weekends break this winter! We are travelling to the stunning city of Barcelona for a weekend of winter sunshine and a match at the legendary Camp Nou!
We will see the mighty FC Barcelona, Messi and Co, take on Granada in La Liga – with plenty of time to enjoy the many attractions you’ll discover in this thrilling city by the sea.
The weekend runs from Friday, January 17 to Monday, January 20 with the option to extend your stay in Spain by a further night if you wish.
See below for full details and package prices.
How does a Football Weekends trip work?
It’s a group break but there will be plenty of opportunities to do your own thing. There will be a welcome gathering on Friday, and we will attend the match together, but the rest of the time is your own – feel free to spend it with other members of the party or do your own thing. You may choose to visit lower league grounds around the city and seek out another game, or explore the sights. Your choice!
Here’s a few of the comments we received from our first two trips!
‘The perfect football weekend, one we will never forget’ – Alan
‘Excellent weekend. Very well organised. Great to meet fellow ground hoppers. Plenty of time to explore individually and meet at games.’ – Derry
‘Our second trip, and as usual everything was well organised’ – Andy and Christine
‘A FW trip is an excellent introduction to attending Foreign Football and just as much fun for the experienced traveller.’ – Keith
What does Barcelona offer?
Barcelona is a truly amazing city that has rightly become one of the most popular city breaks in Europe. Since hosting the Olympic Games in 1992 it has soared in popularity. At its heart is La Ramblas, a mile long thoroughfare in the heart of the city leading down to the sea.
This is the city of Gaudi. Wonder at his incredible architecture, and you won’t want to miss the famous La Sagrada Familia, the unfinished cathedral.
Barcelona caters wonderfully for the tourist with plenty to see and do and simply 100s of bars and restaurants of all types.
How do I get to Barcelona?
You’ll want to choose the best flight routes and times that work for you so we let you make your own arrangements: flights are not included in this package.
There are scores of daily flights from UK and Irish airports to the main Barcelona Airport with fares frequently available for less than £100 return. We suggest you search for flights that arrive by early/ mid afternoon on Friday, as our welcome gathering will take place from around 5pm, but it’s not crucial. When you choose to return from Monday morning onwards is entirely up to you!
The airport is linked to the city centre by metro and this will be included in your city public transport card, part of your package!
Barcelona Girona Airport is also a possible gateway to consider but please note that there is a much longer transfer to the city and this transfer would not be included in our package.
